Extinguisher vandals cause problems in Gainesville

Gainesville, Georgia police are frustrated by the amount of vandalism taking place in their community. The vandalism includes removal and destruction of fire extinguishers from a local parking garage. Police chief Nichols said the vandalsim could result in "...serious damage to a car and cause catastrophic injury to a person.”

Fire extinguisher vandalsim is no joke and represents expensive repair and replacement as well as a threat to life safety.

University of Colorado Fire Damage Minimal Thanks to Extinguisher

A fire in the Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology Building was quickly extinguished with a nearby fire extinguisher. It's a good thing the extinguisher hadn't been tampered with or vandalized -- often a problem on college campuses. Otherwise there could have been significant damage and associated costs.

In what was the third vent fire in the school this year, the dynamic duo of the principal and custodian sprung into action simultaneously with a fire extinguisher to stem the flames while sounding the alarm to get the children to safety outside of the building. This one school is proof enough that it is VITAL that all fire extinguishers must be properly maintained and montitored for presence, pressure and accessibility.

Fiery temper results in hotel room fires.

Deputies in Wisconsin's Wasau County arrested a woman after she set three fires in a hotel room at the Elizabeth Inn & Convention Center. The officers used a nearby fire extinguisher to put out the fire before any serious damage could occur.
